Become a member

To become a member of Hyperion you can do one of three things.

1: You can join one of our member associations.

2: If you are in an association which is not already a member, your association can apply for membership here.

3: You can find a group of people and start your own association, read more below.

How to start an association, step by step guide:

1: Write your mission statement

Decide what the purpose of your associaton should be. Fantastic activity is a pretty wide and unspecific term, so we accept a wide variety of ideas. Activity reminicent of sport can cause problems, as Norway also has a sports association.

2: Find members

Gather a group of at least 5 people below the age of 26, so-called “eligible” members. Step 1 and step 2 are usually pretty simultaneous.

3: Have a founding meeting

Found your association by writing statutes and electing a board. Hyperions standard statutes are a good place to start, and will allways be considered sufficiently democratic. Remember to fill in your association’s name and other empty fields. Your board must have a minimum of two members, and they can be elected for a maximum of two years at a time.

One of our core principles is that all members should have the same chance to affect their association through democratic processes.

Make sure you take minutes at your founding meeting and keep them somewhere you won’t lose them and can access them quickly, such as the internet.

4:  Member list and dues

Remember to collect dues (50 kroner minimum) and contact information from all members. The easiests way to do this is to collect information and dues at your founding meeting, and then again as soon as you recruit a new member. Maintaining a tidy member list can safe you a lot of hassle down the road. Use our membership list template unless you have access to an advanced solution which makes lists that work with Hypersys.

5: Join Hyperion

Apply for membership with Hyperion. If you have agreed on something similar to our standard statutes, or have made your own good, democratic statutes, and have a tidy membership list, you will most likely be accepted and recieve a welcoming package from Hyperion.
